Hello Sugar and Spicers!
After a rather successful banner and placard making workshop and pizza eating session, we have now posted the pictures on the events page, check them out they're all AMAZING!
Of course, if you are attending the march on Sunday 7th March, there's nothing to stop you making a banner or sign of your own, is there?
Don't forget about the Sackville Gardens event at 2pm too. We're having a speakers tent, so you can voice your views about the issues facing lesbian and bisexual women today, a craft tent (with badge making, exciting!) video booth and information stall, with goody bags!
PLUS - Food from the Eighth Day Cafe!
And lastly, come to Vanilla at 5pm and listen to some lovely bands, plus comedy from Kooky Babooshka, they're very funny you know.

Vanilla wins prestigious Industry award
|
VANILLA WIN TOP INDUSTRY AWARD
The Best Bar None Awards scheme is organised by Greater Manchester Polices City Safe unit and aims to reward safe licensed venues that provide good management, a safe and enjoyable environment for customers, discourage binge-drinking and prevent alcohol-related crime.
The accolade of top pub was awarded to Varsity (Wilmslow Road) with Ape and Apple claiming runner up.
Best bar went to Varsity (Oxford Road) and Revolution (Deansgate Locks) and Henry J Beans came joint runners up.
Vanilla was named as the best LGBT venue in Manchester with Queer as the runner up in this category.
The best club award went to Warehouse Project with 5th Avenue being named the runner up. Key 103s listener award will be announced at a later date.
Over three hundred and fifty people attended the awards at the Midland Hotel on Sunday 20 September along with representatives from the police, Manchester City Council, NHS Manchester, licensees, the drinks industry and the event sponsors, Diagio, Key 103 and Budweiser.
Coronation Street super star, Antony Cotton, hosted the event and entertainment was provided on the night by northwest band, The Coolers.
A record number of sixty four venues met the required standard of safety to receive accreditation, meaning that they can now use the official Manchester *Best Bar None* logo on their own promotional advertising to let customers know that the venue is working hard to keep them safer.
Inspector Ron Orr said: **I would like to congratulate the Warehouse Project for claiming the title of Best Bar None 2009. The entries this year have been of an extremely high standard, with licensees raising the bar even further to ensure that they provide safe and enjoyable nights out for people visiting their venues.**
*I am proud of the fact that this scheme originated from Manchester and that lots of cities across the UK have taken our lead to implement Best Bar None in their area. Local venues can be delighted with the fact that they are helping to contribute to Manchester's reputation as one of the safest cities in the UK with a fantastic night time economy and this is something we aim to build on even further over the coming years.*
The Best Bar None Awards 2009 forms part of GMPs Think Safe Drink Safe campaign. The initiative is aimed at raising awareness about responsible drinking, urging members of the public to pace their drinks, stick with friends and take a taxi home they can trust. By asking people to behave responsibly, police officers and partner agencies aim to make Manchester an even safer place to enjoy a night out, without fear of falling victim to crime, including sexual assaults.
